My friend
3/10/2025
This weekend, my college roommate and best friend visited from across the Atlantic. I owe a great deal to him. He's been there for me through it all. Some people are cheatcodes that give you superpowers and none more than him. In every conversation, he teaches me something new and challenges me to think more rigorously. He is intensely curious, charismatic, determined, and the smartest person I know. His commitment to the welfare and development of his nation inspires me to dream bigger and better.
Every time I see him, I'm always reminded how lucky I am to be able to spend time with him. Funnily, I've been saying this since the day I met him. See below an email exchange from Christmas day of our freshman year of college:

Akshar,
I made a friend this semester. His obsession with his weight borders the neurotic and his weight loss borders the miraculous. A friend's worth more than a successful academic career, blockbuster start-up or debating accolade. Merry Christmas mate.

You made my first semester and will probably make my next 3.5 years at Harvard and beyond. Few can say they found a friend like that so soon. You make me a more articulate and confident thinker, somewhat better at ball, and if I were to only have 1 friend after a semester, no doubt it would be you. Hopefully next sem I can contribute something to your growth. We need to hit the movies more and go out more. Hope you had a great Christmas and Happy New Year. Looking forward to seeing you in a month.
I do not believe there to be a greater gift than friends that set the standard.
Till I see you next, my friend!
